Aang

(Seriously, what was G1 smoking?)

Bending

  • Reliant on surroundings and chi (fire only needs the latter)
  • Comes from life energy; energybending subtracts it via soul-to-soul contact
  • Strengthened with rage
  • Aang has blocked Azula's blue fire, which should be at least 2,700 degrees Fahrenheit
  • As the Avatar, he can bend multiple elements, including simultaneously

Airbending

  • Master airbender at age 12
  • Created multiple air scooters
  • Can continously move through the air with gusts (screw Zaheer I guess)
  • Creating an air bubble lets him safely stay underwater
  • Amplified Kuzon's fire
  • Can casually pull objects towards him and alter their trajectory; this should be reliant on Lifting Strength
  • Multiple speed amps from the series and games; can be stacked
  • Can cool down lava to harden it (???)

Avatar State

  • Kyoshi could fucking levitate like Appa apparently?
  • Yangchen can pull Zaheer's Fatality, but on an entire area of people; this also prevented combustionbending

Waterbending

  • Shouldn't know how to bloodbend (even with the Avatar State)
  • Could theoretically remove water from a person's body (normally out-of-character)
  • Waterbenders have frozen people solid, seemingly killing them

Avatar State

  • Kyoshi can freeze the inside of your body for a Sub-Zero Fatality

Earthbending

  • Can remotely dismantle earth
  • His Seismic Sense is comparable to the Gaara Killer 9000 (glaze)
  • Made and piloted a giant earth robot (maybe reading the comics was worth it...)
    • Crystal armor's still cooler though
  • Earthbenders can cling to walls via magnetism...but Aang still can't metalbend?

Avatar State

  • Kyoshi bent glass out of her skin
  • The Avatar before Yangchen could lavabend

Firebending

  • Inhibited by the cold and a lack of drive/emotion; multiple power amps under proper conditions
  • Might be able to make dragon fire
  • Firebending can create large smokescreens and concentrated explosions
  • Zuko snuffed out pre-existing fire and generated heat from the hands
  • Iroh blew steam onto a metal shackle, making it glow red
  • Sozin cooled down lava by redirecting the heat into his body and out his fingtertips
  • Bursts of flame from the feet can allow you to walk through the air
  • White fire exists, and is more potent than blue fire
  • By severely drawing on one's life-force, you can summon a fireball "as bright as the sun"

Avatar State

  • Roku has... 
    • made a large area furnace-hot, instantly inducing heatstroke for all present
    • generated iridescent fire by charging his chi (seemingly the most powerful type)
    • created a "solar fireball" as large as the sun (from Magic: The Gathering lol)

Avatar State

  • Can break free of bloodbending
  • Can briefly enter the form to channel its power into one act
  • Energybending could have killed Ozai, presumably by removing all of his life energy
  • Past Avatars can willingly manifest Force Ghost style (only for communication, but still dumb)
  • There were at least 95 Avatars before Aang, possibly a thousand (big range lol)

The Traveler

Elements

  • Can be combined for different effects
  • Can be generated outside the body or harnessed through equipment
  • Numerous stat amps (no shit, it's a gacha RPG)
  • Can decrease an enemy's corresponding resistances (the Samus Slayer 9000)
  • Reliant on energy supply; there are many ways to replenish it, but it will eventually run out
  • Can heal the user by decent percentages

Miscellaneous

  • Was a Traveler™️for milennia, though what they did is hardly known
  • Trained for several days straight with no-rest
  • Can breathe in space (somehow)
  • Can detect traces of elements with a sixth sense (likely a gameplay mechanic)
  • "Do you think a barrier will work?"
  • The Prototype Rancour can shake a mountain

Death Battles

Gaara Vs. Toph Beifong

  • Toph learnt how to bend sand and mud
  • Toph can feel the earth, EVEN WHEN IT ISN'T CONNECTED TO THE GROUND 🗣️

Aang Vs. Edward Elric

Base

  • "Split a mountain while asleep"
  • "Moved a 358 ton boulder with airbending" 
  • "Raised 35.7 million tons of water"
  • Dropkicked a rock column weighing 9,427.38 tons
  • Reacted and intercepted to Ozai's lightning mid-movement (>53,000 m/s, or >Mach 154.51)
    • Lightningbending is deemed likely to move at the speed of real lightning
    • Iroh caught and redirected natural lightning
  • Deemed less "quick-witted and inventive" than Edward; also had a shorter amount of experience naturally

Avatar State/Miscellaneous

    • They buy a thousand Avatars existing (over 10,000 years of collective knowledge)
  • Bending is "far more versatile and readily available than Combat Alchemy"
  • The firebending Avatar before Roku causing volcanic eruptions in the Gigaton of TNT range

Zuko Vs. Shoto Todoroki

  • Child firebenders can melt a metal door (2,199 degress Fahrenheit)
    • They say Zuko mastered the Dancing Dragon and achieved inner peace, meaning he can likely lightning bend (oh come on now)
  • Zuko is capped at building level 💀

Korra Vs. Storm

  • Aang waterbent roughly 35,778,900 metric tons (>39,439,486.2 tons) of water at once
  • Kyoshi earthbent a 423,149,806,300 ton island; moving it 3,241.7 meters (>2 miles) in 5 seconds, meaning a velocity of 648.34 m/s (>Mach 1.9). Kinetic Energy = 21.25 Gigatons of TNT
      • Base Korra scales to these because...she's a reincarnation of the Avatar...okay bro
  • Amon dodged lightning, which moves at 60,000 mps (>Mach 194.93); this places his speed at Mach 214.65
    • Strong outbursts of spiritual energy can tear holes into the Spirit World
  • Made thousands of tons of ice, restraining Kuvira's several story-sized robot
  • Held back a blast of spiritual energy, which vaporized a massive crater (5.93 Megatons of TNT).
      • It "almost killed everyone", so you could argue Korra stopped way more energy
  • Tapped into enough spiritual energy to turn into a giant kaiju, which could phase through an opponent
    • Likely only possible under special circumstances
      • (Get real, they aren't including this for Aang)
  • Energybending cannot depower those whose elemental powers aren't spiritual

Death Battle Prediction: Gru Vs. Megamind Is the Matchup Good? In another first for this blog, I can answer with a resounding yes. And boy does the show need it right now. 4 months of lackluster shonen matchups and episodes were soul-draining. We've had some rough stretches of booking for this show, but I don't think it's ever been that bad. At least, in that sense. Half of Season 7's roster being Marvel and DC was worse, but moreso holistically. No 3 match string there was quite this barren. Gru Vs. Megamind balances a simple, easy-to-understand theme with surprising originality. We've seen a few fights with comparable pitches - Omni-Man Vs. Bardock being the most recent example - but usually the villain redemption arc starts with an antagonist, ending with a hero. They say absolute power corrupts absolutely...but these two asked who the hell 'they' are. They're strong and don't mind flaunting it, but have always kept strength as a tool to protect those they cherish. Standing as a shining example of what free spirits can do, these living legends are more than willing to put it all on the line. Death Battle Prediction: You're Either Perfect or You're Not Winning Apologies for getting this out at the 11th hour. Shanks Vs. Minato took a lot longer than I thought it would ( you should go read that btw ), but this would've come out a few days ago the earliest. Do note that unless I think the matchup really requires and/or deserves it, my episode predictions aren't going to be full breakdowns. Even if I wanted to do one here, I've not the time or energy for it after Shanks Vs. Minato. Is the Matchup Good? The theme is... fine . Ultimate not-Terminators made by mad scientists isn't too inspired, but certainly not bad. The main selling point is the copycat angle; Cell's literally made-up of spare parts, which Metal would basically rip-off in Sonic Heroes. That's a fun comparison, albeit one SEGA would try and have you forget. Save some IDW comics, Metal's barely been pushed to have mid-battle copying since the 2000s. And we all know the comic writ...
